Fiserv Health has worked with Hughes and Associates since January 1st, 2003. Since that time, we have found the software that Hughes and Associates utilizes is very helpful in our processing of claims.
This software, allows our Customer Service Representatives to log in securely onto the Hughes and Associates web-site and view all pre-certification files and letters for Plan Members. By doing this, any pre-certifications that were missed or rejected from the files transmitted to Fiserv Health to upload, can be found via the Internet.
By allowing our staff to access pre-certification letters and information instantly, Fiserv Health has been able to have a faster rate of turnaround time for those Plans that use Hughes and Associates as a Utilization Review vendor. This has also decreased the amount of inquiries needed between Fiserv Health and Hughes and Associates.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend their software for any Utilization Review vendor, as it has made a huge difference in our everyday tasks, from phone calls to processing claims. It provides instant and secure access to verify pre-certification for faster turnaround rates for the Plan Members and higher customer satisfaction levels.

I have personally dealt with Hughes and Associates for many years, while working in the capacity as claims manager for 3 different TPAs, one in Louisiana and 2 in Mississippi. I have worked with other precert companies in the past and have never have had the response to client specific needs as I have with Hughes. With the introduction of their precertification software, I have real-time information with a click of the mouse. The software allows us to look at the actual precertification with all of the clinical data taken at the time the precert is requested, where some of the competitors will give you the number of days precertified, but not even a diagnosis. The software allows you to run reports based on inpatient precerts, outpatient precerts etc. At the time of renewal everything you need to know from a clinical standpoint is again available to you through the software. This is a tremendous asset when compiling information to submit to the reinsurer and I have had nothing but positive feedback from clients, TPA management personnel and reinsurers for the level of information that is provided through this software product. The Mississippi Trucking Association Self-Insurers Fund has utilized their Bill Review services for the last 7 years. I have no doubt this was the best decision then and feel the same way today.
